Job Title: Residential Counselor Shift Supervisor (RCSS) or Residential Counselor (RC)
Possible Shifts:
1. M-F Days (Teachers Assistant/RCSS) Hours (40hrs/week) Mon-Fri 7:00 am to 3:00pm
2. M-Th Overnight Hours (40hrs/week) Mon-Thurs 10:30pm to 8:30am, **
3. Sun-Wed Swing Hours (40hrs/week) Sun 8am to 10pm, Mon to Wed 2/3pm to 10/11pm
4. Th-Sat Swing Hours (32hrs/week) Thur & Fri 2/3pm to 10/11pm, Sat 8am to 10pm
5. F-Sun Overnight Hours (30hrs/week) Fri-Sat 10:00pm to 8:00am, Sun 10:30am to 8:30am **
6. On-call (based on your availability- very flexible) can work shifts listed above
NOTE: MANDATORY STAFF MEETING: Tues or Wed 2:15pm to 4:15pm depending on assigned facility. ** Only overnights shifts are able to bring in homework to their shifts.
Job Summary:
Residential Counselor Shift Supervisors (RCSS) supervise Residential Counselors (RC) and general program activities; provides for the care, supervision, observation, and protection of clients; responsible for implementing defined treatment plans and planned activities in collaboration with clinical team; participates in staff treatment planning sessions; schedules work and activity assignments for RCs; completes various logs and reports; dispenses medication to clients; performs minor first aid when necessary; performs liaison functions with authorized representatives and community residents, school personnel, and law enforcement. Residential Counselor (RC) work involves extensive interaction with and direct supervision of adolescent/teenage girls identified as Emotionally Disturbed (ED) living in a therapeutic residential care environment.
Resident Counselor (RC) participates in supervised activities; works with other staff to follow defined treatment plans; assists children in or performs housekeeping chores and cooking; accompanies and supervises children on various outings as well as medical, dental, and professional appointments; assists with homework assignments and instructs children on self-maintenance and life skills.
In the classroom, the Teacher Assistant (TA) is responsible for providing assistance to the Special Education Instructor. The TA assists with the development and implementation of curriculum for emotionally and behaviorally disordered students. Under guidance of the Special Education Instructor, the TA provides direct instructional services to students and participates in the ongoing assessment and evaluation of student progress. This position also provides direct supervision, support, and safety of all students. The position reports directly to the Special Education Instructor. *** Must have at least 30 units in behavioral science or psychology, exp. in a nonpublic setting classroom with SED popluation preferred. Must also pass San Juan Instructional Aide Test.
Salary Range and Benefits:
• $8.75 - $10.75 per hour to start depending on education and experience
• $0.25 weekend shift differential
• $0.50 supervisor shift differential
• $0.50 overnight shift differential
• $0.75 weekend overnight shift differential

Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
• 15 units in Behavioral Science (I.e., Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, ECE, Criminal Justice, etc.) or 1 year experience in field preferred
• Valid CA Drivers License with good driving record (Required)
• Clear fingerprint background check (Required)
• Copy of degree or transcripts (unofficial OK- Required)
• Proof of car insurance
• Copy of DMV Print out (DMV charges a $5 fee)
