OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of the House Supervisor and the work guidance and direction of the Lead Residential Counselor, the Residential Counselor is the primary caregiver to the children, providing leadership and supervision. The Residential Counselor ensures the safety and security of the children at all times working in coordination with the cottage team.



SWING AND GRAVEYARD SHIFTS AVAILIBLE. FULL AND PART TIME HOURS.



Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provide educational help when assisting the children with homework.

• Plan activities to help the children develop new skills and interests, as well as expanding existing ones.

• Participate in community process groups (formal and informal) as directed.

• Distribute medication for residents.

• Provide transportation for children as necessary.

• Clean and maintain cottages in an orderly condition in accordance with Title 22 regulations.

• Complete written documentation per residential program requirements.

• Attend and participate in team meetings and staffing reviews.



REQUIREMENTS:



• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.



• At least one (1) year of experience working with behaviorally challenge adolescents or teens is preferred.



• College courses/work in psychology or social services in lieu of experience will be considered.



• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
