Job Description



This position is for a Senior IT Engineer within the HP ProCurve Networking Worldwide IT Organization Operations and Infrastructure team. This role will require a high degree of versatility and breadth/depth of technical knowledge spanning most of the core technologies used within this organization. This position combines elements of systems engineering and administration (Unix, Linux, Windows, SAN, networking, etc.), project management, data analysis, programming, process design, training, documentation, etc.



Principle Duties and Responsibilities



1. Serve as Technical Lead on Infrastructure/Operations projects that will vary widely in nature, complexity, technology, etc. Must be able to handle very complex efforts independently.

2. Participate in and often lead vendor identification, evaluation, and selection activities for various services, software, hardware, etc. Lead pilot tests.

3. Work closely with HP IT to support ProCurve IT projects as well as HP IT initiatives that impact ProCurve (i.e. DCC, EDW, etc.).



Qualifications:



Must



* Bachelors or undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

* Able and willing to learn new technologies almost overnight

* Passion for IT operations, support, and infrastructure

* Very strong technical leadership and interpersonal skills

* > 7 years experience in IT operations, infrastructure, development, etc.

* Operational “mindset”; strong sense of ownership and commitment to world-class operations and support. Willingness to respond to off-hours and weekend infrastructure incidents.

* Proven ability to work concurrently on multiple projects.

* Willingness to travel occasionally (< 20%) in support of primary responsibilities.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Demonstrated process and detail orientation.

* Strong project management skills.



Desired:



* 2+ yrs HP-UX administration experience.

* Unix shell scripting skills

* 2+ yrs Linux administration experience

* 2+ yrs Windows server administration experience, including clustering

* Good understanding of server virtualization technologies – VMWare.

* Very strong knowledge of enterprise schedulers (Tidal, Maestro)

* HP EVA 3000 and/or 5000 administration experience

* HP MSA 1000 administration experience

* SQL Server and/or Oracle DBA Experience

* Data Modeling – Relational/Dimensional

* Analysis/Query Tools – Hyperion Brio, Business Objects, Toad, SQL Navigator

* Programming experience (.Net, C#, PL/SQL, SQL)

* ETL Experience (Informatica)

* Significant networking experience – load balancers, routers, switches, firewalls, etc.

* ITIL Foundations Certification in IT Service Management
