Therapeutic Behavioral Specialist (Social Services)The TBS Specialist provides one-to-one guidance, services, education and support to children and their families in a variety of environments according to individualized plans. The TBS Specialist is a temporary service provider and educator. The TBS Specialist works as a member of a cooperative team with the client/child, the family and other members of the TBS team, particularly the TBS Coordinator, and other professional staff working with the child and family. The TBS Specialist works independently and directly with children and adults. Most guidance, services, and support is/are provided in the family’s home and a variety of other community settings.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 4 years of approved
experience*
*approved experience is experience that qualifies the applicant
for Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (MHRS) status in the Sacramento County Children’s Mental Health System of Care
OR •Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology with MFT or LCSW license or license eligibility
OR •Master’s degree in a related field and at least 2 years of approved
experience*
•Prepared to work independently with flexible hours that may include evenings,
weekends and holidays
•Proven documentation skills and intermediate level computer skills including
all MS Office programs
•Verbal and written ability to communicate effectively with colleagues,
community partners, consumers and all levels of management
•Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and assignments effectively
•Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment within the department and
agency wide
•Fulfillment of TB test, fingerprinting and State clearance, and any other
mandatory State/Federal requirements
•Must hold a valid drivers license
•Must provide and operate a registered, properly insured automobile
•Bilingual skills are a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the principles and values of
Stanford Home, while adhering to applicable professional codes of ethics,
Stanford Home Policies and Procedures, Community Care Licensing regulations
and Sacramento Mental Health Plan regulations
•Participates in the development of individualized plans with other members of the TBS team
•Forms positive, constructive relationships with children and their families
•Identifies strengths, skills, and positive qualities in children and families
•Utilizes behavioral plans written by TBS coordinators
•Observes and evaluates behavior, then completes a Functional Behavioral
Analysis
•Utilizes the Functional Behavioral Analysis to implement behavior change
programming
•Records behavioral data to ensure accurate tracking of target behavior change
•Writes clear, accurate and timely progress notes consistent with each
contact/ visit
•Works collaboratively with all Stanford Home programs and staff to provide
support as needed
•Attends weekly staff meetings, supervision and case management staff meetings
as scheduled
•Accountable for independent time management
•Develops and maintains positive relationships with agency and community
programs
•Utilizes and maintains Microsoft Outlook calendar with all work-related
details in order to manage time effectively and share calendar information
with co-workers
•Makes recommendations to modify goals as indicated by behavioral data
•Makes recommendations for all phases of treatment, including termination of
TBS services.
•Seeks out clinical information and advice as needed, accepts constructive
criticism and reasonable recommendations from supervisor
•Mentors new Behavior Specialists
•Utilize and maintain Microsoft Outlook calendar with all work related details
in order to manage time effectively and share calendar information with co-
workers
•Performs all other duties as necessary for the agency, including working in
other programs
